Essentials and spadework
- Laboratory experiments have shown that several stress factors may have negative effects on bees (Janke, von der Ohe, Brasse, Forster, 2006).
- The DeBiMo (German Bee Monitoring) provides plenty of information, which, however, may only be evaluated through experiments.
- Up to now, there have been no open-air projects that combine laboratory experiments with monitoring projects.
Objectives
Establishment of a reference model ‘FIT BEE’-location and of a specialised data information service:
- Effects of site-specific factors, including food availability and crop protection products, on the development of bee colonies.
- Assistance of researches by a GIS-based information system.
- Specialised data information system for beekeepers, veterinary surgeons and others.
- Interpretation of monitoring data and development of a sustainable organisation for monitoring projects.
